I have been taking care of my wonderful tomato plant for months now and was so excited for the pictures I was going to take and post on the blog. So excited until I walked in the door and found my two red tomatoes picked and on the counter...

Holy NOT a Comparison
Lately, I feel that all I could say, my only reaction to my daughter is ...really? Today I actually told her "No Brooke, that is not right"...you will see why. My daughter has always been obsessed with bellys-bellybuttons to be exact. I never really could put my finger on the obsession and/or if she admired the girls at the beach that were showing their belly's or if she felt they were showing too much. I'm coming to the conclusion that it may be a little of both.
So on that note, she is obsessed with Jasmine because she is one of the Disney Princesses that consistently shows her belly. Today she was going to the bathroom and walked out to see a section of the newspaper that I was reading. I couldn't help myself...it was about the Jersey Shore cast and it was humorous to say the least. She is standing over the newspaper with her mouth open and smiling. I come over and say..."Brooke? What's the matter?" She points to "Snookie" (ugh-Gasp) and says, "Mom, I want that, look she's just like Jasmine". That's when I say "No Brooke, that is NOT right!" REally?!?

Summer Run Mon...day
Todays summer run will be at Robert Moses Beach. Looking forward to it but hope my "eating friendly's tummy ache" goes away! Probably not the smartest thing to do before a run on a hot summer day! Here are some pics from past runs. Kids will come again on last run--for now its going to be a mommy-alone time thing!

Brooke loves pulling the beverage bag!

Brooke cheering on the first place wheelchair winner!

Mommy's biggest fan :)

Why they really come lol

Its a small world after all...
After the family reunion cousins Victor and Caryl Coppola went to stay with my parents before they returned to their home in Florida. They all must have got to talking and somehow discovered that Victor and Caryl went to highschool with Scott's mom Laurel Brook, who unfortunately has not been with us for over ten years. I just received an email with Laurel's highschool picture attached. So cool to see her at that time and so thoughtful and kind for them to get that to Scott. Now, tell me...do you not think my Lukey is a mixture of her and I? Definitely the mouth and coloring with momma Laurel!

Mistakes and Some Summer Fun for Mom
On my life list I wrote that my pr was 26 something...that would not be correct my friends... It is a difference of .2 miles...Let me explain. When I am doing my neighborhood runs I usually clock 3 exact miles and a 5k is 3.2...so there you go thats the difference...which when you are running is a HUGE difference because that is probably the worst part of the race-the last 2 minutes. Its funny how your brain plays with you in the end, looking on your watch and knowing that there is only about two more minutes left and thinking..."crap, i can't do this!" Damn mind- it always gets in the way.
So yesterday I went to my summer run solo and it was a blast. I need to learn not to bring the kids to everything of "mine". Plus that that is okay. When I was bringing the kids I would never get the chance to sit, enjoy a bevarage with the people I go with and just talk. I would be making everyone else happy and wind up running around with one of the two crying children. Then it was never worth it so I would leave.
One of my friends from work noticed this and mentioned (while giving me a Mary Poppins wink of an eye)that I might want to "come alone" next time. I pondered this and thought hmmm ...what a BRIGHT idea.
So yesterday, I drove myself to this beautiful Belmont Lake park on Long Island (one of my favorite parts of the runs is being introduced to all these different parks and trails that I never knew about). There is always a ton of traffic getting into the park but thats where the buzz starts from -the excitement of hearing the music, to seeing all the people, the tents and the crazies (my personal term for them) that are running before the run. This race was very, very hot but I did well and was pleased. My watch didn't pick up my time because of the water I had to throw over myself to keep my self from overheating.
When the race was done I went to cool down and then met everyone at the tent. Thats when the voice came over the speakers that everyone must leave due to the storm that was coming. We said our goodbyes and then I headed to my car...realizing CRAP...where the hell did I park in all this mess. About a half century later I found the car and noticed my friends laughing hysterical at me because apparently we parked a few cars away and it took them hmmm...about a minute to get to the car and me about 15. We spent a bit of time tailgating ... Made for a really nice night.
To top it off when I went home I looked up the race and and tried to figure out these times. I looked at all my 3.2 mile runs and realized that last night was my PR for a 5k RACE. 28:04...Hoo rah! Question for anyone that runs or knows someone who runs. To call a PR a PR should it be a race? My feeling is yes...but not positive ...let me know!

Family Reunion Pics
Gary and Esther, my moms cousins recently held a family reunion. It was getting a bit tiresome only seeing family at funerals and the occasional wedding...so at my grandmothers funeral Esther had told everyone of her plans to get the family together. Their home was absolutely beautiful and they were so welcoming to everyone. Here are some pictures...
