1 Year
"Time flies" or "Enjoy it now, it goes so fast". All new mothers hear it at least a zillion times and you smile and say "okay"....
This past year has FLOWN by in what seems like a blink of the eye. My little boy Lucas is one years old now and every bit as lovable as he was when he was born. I say with pride (right now) that he is surely a momma's boy ! A favorite of mine is when he cuddles and snuggles his face in my neck...Looove it. We have both grown so much this year and I hope to god that the next year goes just a little bit slower! Happy 1st Birthday to you Lucas and to myself a pat on the back for giving birth to such a beautiful, loving and sweet child.

Are you down with BGB?
Figure it out yet? Probably not, unless you are in the world or have been in the world of 2-3 year olds. We are now entering the zone of the Big Girl Bed. Buyer beware...
New Owners of a Big Girl Bed will:
*feel like they have a newborn that is waking every 15 minutes
* jump from bed hearing the pitter-patter of feet thinking you have a huge mouse on your hands...oh wait...I forgot the BGB...
*have to lock everything at night- bathroom doors, your door, the stairway just in case said little girl decides to go wandering.
*worry about little girl falling out of BGB (yes we have bumpers..but these little girls (and boys) can accomplish miraculous things
*ultimately become sentimental remembering and feeling like it was just the other day that you were setting up the crib
I'll take pictures and post as soon as I take them and as soon as I go to target and buy BGB princess sheets. Let the fun begin!

Have You Ever? and Tacharydia what???
Have you ever had so much to say, so much happen that you decide to just not say anything at all? That is how I feel about the past month or so. So many things have happened that it is almost overwhelming to try and sit down and put it into words. I will tell you that I have learned a lot, lost a lot, and loved a lot through it all. Its almost hard to believe that all this sh*t happened in one crazy long unforgiving month. Will I share...absolutely...but not all at once - and when I am ready. :)
Speaking of all of this...life is a roller coaster-how do you hold on? I have found that as much as it was hard to get used to, my tried and true is the running. Nothing I have ever done has made me feel so good afterwards...with that,I will go into the next part of this very long blog entry.
I recently tried a new doctor in St. James and with going to a new doctor they do a full physical. One in which I haven't had done in many, many years. Heck, I am not sure I really ever had a "real" full-blown physical ever! So during this the doctor decided to put a Holter monitor on me during a 24 hour period. Apparently, something he does with people in my AGE GROUP?!(What the f&*^!?) that are as active. Now, I am going to preface this with the fact that, yes, I have had a flutter or two in the past. I've always chalked it up to training, or nerves, or just a regular little flutter...ya know a flutter lol. Well apparently (I am hoping this doctor is overdramatic and yes- i have an appointment to get a second opinion already) i have somethign called..Superventricular tacharydia. Please someone tell me they have it or know someone that does?
Pretty much what it is is a type of heart beat rhythm disorder in which the heart beats faster than normal. This explains my fights with Scott that my heart monitor HAS to be broken. I recall a conversation with a friend when telling him what my rate was..."impossible, you would be dead"...nope not dead, not impossible just have that taharydia crap. There are a few symptoms of this which can explain a lot of things to me...but lets talk about the most important part of this. When I last spoke to the doctor he told me...no caffeine, no chocolate, and no running!#?! I mean come on that's ridiculous and a bit extreme don't you think? All joking aside I am currently in a bit of a slump, a funk, a bit depressed knowing that I can't do the running right now. I already had to cancel one race and I really don't want to cancel more. I might not be the fastest or the best runner but it certainly has become an everyday part of my life and I am NOT ready to give it up.
Obviously, I will follow my doctors orders but I am certainly getting a second opinion and I am going to a specialist upon doctors orders. After reading like a mad woman on line..there are levels of this...I am hoping I have the lowest of them and with maybe a heart monitor I can slow it down when it gets bad? Not sure how it all works, not sure about any of it. What I am sure of is I now know how important it is to me...and I really, really don't want to do without it. Stay tuned...
(p.s..just read on one site that I SHOULD do excercise...which i believe includes running. For my husbands hearts sake..I will wait till my appnt on Thursday :)

Double Trouble
About three years ago my chances of an 'easy cleaning' day went flying through the window. It was always a task to keep the play room clean and the toys contained to the playroom. About a year ago we incorported the "clean up" song and Brooke would help with the cleaning...that was always fun and did help more than you would think. Now, our friend Lucas has decided that his favorite thing to do is pull up on items, retrieve and demolish. I am in for it my friends...and my little house too!(said in the evil witch voice from wizard of oz).

My Tiny Dancer
Love this kid....
Sitting Next to the Jersey Shore??
Okay this is a horrible video and it is not one of the Black Eyed Peas best songs but I can't stop laughing at the guy in the back ground saying "Beat the beat girl!" So totally Jersey Shore!
"I was running" -forest gump
Lately, I have been running up a storm...and learning a lot from it. I truly believe it is a sport that you must respect or it will kick your ass in the long run. Each run teaches me something new...some cheesey,-some not-so-much but all true! Here are some thoughts i have had while running...or/and things I have learned...
* I've learned the hard way- to always be prepared
* It's always great having someone at the end of the race to congratulate you but there is nothing better than your own personal "I did it"
* ice works
* learned to love Miley Cirus'- The Climb...especially when hitting a hill or having the option to cut my run short (by taking a short cut!)...great song to put about 5 miles in to your run!
* always stretch..even if its not cool
* Get passed the first 4 miles and the rest kind of fly by...(no never thought I would say that!)
* I've learned that I would much rather run outside than in the gym
* In the end...its really only your OWN fault if you didn't get out there and run
* Don't take short-cuts
* love the 'running hello'...kind of like boaters when passing eachother...a mutual nod, wave and smile...
* Learned that i SHOULD NOT run down to short beach first and have to run back up for the second 4 miles of an 8 mile run! How did I not realize that was all hill???
* Sign up for races way before to keep the incentive...
* Enjoy it...or you won't keep it up!
* I seem to be a destination runner...love getting to a "place"...
* If you can..don't pop a blister, wrap it-gauze it...and all will be okay!
* Stop with pain...the road will still be there tomorrow.
* If you get hot, drop it...that will always be there tomorrow too lol. Its been a family outing to go pick up my jackets or shirts left on a run..."everyone look for mommy's black vest"

It's really hard to see someone you love leave and to see your loved ones here hurting. My grandmother was a spunky, fun-loving yet serious person. Below are a list of some memories that make me smile and some pictures...
I will always remember ...
*her cooking "gravy" and making me fried meatballs special
*her having her pocketbook clutched in her hand
*her feathered pillows that would make me sneeze uncontrollably
*sleeping over her house and laying awake because she snored...just a bit :)(I do believe I remember trying to tape this with either Maria or Rocky)
*going downstairs to her slotted doors when she lived with us in Howard Beach
*her trying to convince me that rice pudding was great and always saying "Agh, this is your cousin Geraldine's favorite..you kids you never know what you like!"
*always telling me I didn't eat enough (trust me I do now)
*her dining room display with everyones pictures. I went to it every visit to see what pictures were new.
*her saying "agh, go scratch your ass with a broken bottle"
*her wiping the crumbs on the floor when she cleaned the table...(i actually think of her when I do this lol)
*her jumping out of my dad's truck when he would drive her to Long Island "Grandma's Here!"
*her laughing -sometimes when she got started she could never stop! "Are we there yet?"
*leaving my sister Maria with her when we went on vacation...and trusting her.
*finding her wallet under her rocking sofa chair when we our house in howard beach was broken in to. "Those Bastards!"
*Her always worrying about the kids no matter how old she was..."Annette- Watch her!"
*Stella D'Oro Anisette Cookies or the "S" shaped ones...one of the 'always-there' items in her plastic bag that she would bring to our house when visiting.
*Peppermint candies in the bottom of her bag
*Her always dancing at every party
*her no matter what she was going through always being concerned about Scott and his grandmother
*her never wanting to go in the water no matter HOW HOT it was outside
*going on the bus to visit grandpas grave
*her coming to our first home for the first time
*how she lit up when she saw Brooke and Lucas
There are a lot of other memories and I'm glad that we got to see our grandmother so often. I will always remember my grandmother...we all loved her very much.

Couldn't Help Myself!
I wanted Marie to be the first to blog about it but I am just so elated that my FIRST EVER NEPHEW has officially arrived. I will not post a picture until it has been approved...so let me know!
Its odd being so happy about a child that is not your own. Its actually very, very exciting with the benefit that you do not have to hear them scream at 1 am in the morning!
I haven't met baby Nico yet but I love him already...and I never knew that was possible! It's crazy the cards (and feelings) that life has been throwing me...and I love a lot of them!
Welcome Nico...our first nephew and cousin for the kids! We are all so, so excited to meet you...you're the talk of the household!

My Real Age....drumroll please....
Calendar Age
35.4 Difference
-2.7 RealAge
32.7
That's not to shabby and I am DETERMINED to make it in the twenties! Here are a few things that I got going for me....
-working out
-eating breakfast
-wearing seat belt
-no cell phone in the car anymore
-no longer with bad habits 4 months baby!
-having family and friends
-heart rate
-vitamins
Things I don't have going for me:
-stressful life events
-working out (it seems that I need to eat differently to keep up with the level)
-floss more (i admit i am not an EVERY DAY flosser
-speeding over 5mph of speed limit
-omega 3's and other vitamins that i am not getting. I NEED TO GO AND GET A MULTI-VITAMIN!
So lets see if I can be 16 again lol...not sure I can do that but lets shoot for 29! Check out what your real age is and share! Scott- I am a bit nervous to see what yours is....i'm pretty sure they aren't going to add 20 points for eating 16 pieces of bread at one sitting!
